11. The Balcony at 29 Old Elvet
The Balcony at 29 Old Elvet, currently a building housing University staff offices for the School of Applied Social Sciences, could be hired by wealthy patrons in order to get a better view of the public executions. The author Violet Hunt[14] lived at 29 Old Elvet, a member of the Bloomsbury set, it is said that Oscar Wilde proposed to her. Violet wrote short stories, novels and biography. She also wrote two volumes of ghost stories: Tales of the Uneasy and More Tales of the Uneasy.
